marczellm
The church has gotten a new Kurzweil SP6 and in addition to programming all the sounds that we will need, I also want to use this opportunity to learn a bit of Kurz programming. (I already have a quite good understanding of Roland sound architecture.) The first sound I wanted to program from scratch is a simple triangle lead with portamento but I've hit a problem. Please listen to the sound example. First you'll hear a factory sound, then my custom sound. Why is my custom sound emitting audible clicks when the portamento notes are more than one octave apart? As a beginner I cannot find which option is the key difference between the factory patch and mine. Mighty Motif Max
Sounds like the attack or sustain is too short maybe? Not a VAST expert either. marczellm
It turns out the built-in synth waveform samples are not suitable for this kind of portamento. You have to go to the Algorithm section and choose a DSP Function block that is a VA oscillator. AnotherScott
It turns out the built-in synth waveform samples are not suitable for this kind of portamento. You have to go to the Algorithm section and choose a DSP Function block that is a VA oscillator. One of the advantages of a VA engine is that an algortmically generated waveform behaves like an analog one for portamento. Sampled waveforms cannot pitch shift the same way. Quote Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)
marczellm
Actually Nord does a good job of crossfading samples when gliding.
