Mykhailo
No solos please, just short parts that help to define the song. I will start with 'Tom Sawyer' by Rush: [video:youtube]

ElmerJFudd
That melodic synth hook between verses in the Car"s 'Just What I Needed.' Same for Head East"s 'Never Been Any Reason.' I wouldn"t call them solos, more like composed C sections - but the 80s are packed with them. The Tubes - I"ll Talk to You Later gifts the synth a section of the song. Mykhailo
Agreed. For me a 'solo' has to contain a certain amount of length, and a certain amount of improvisation. Hence the keyboard solo from 'light my fire' would not be a 'part', whereas the aforementioned examples would be.

KuruPrionz
That melodic synth hook between verses in the Car"s 'Just What I Needed.' Same for Head East"s 'Never Been Any Reason.' The Cars first album (The Cars) is crawling with signature synth licks. OK, maybe some of them are not synths. Living in Stereo, Good Times Roll, You're All I've Got Tonight, Bye Bye Love, Moving In Stereo, All Mixed Up all have signature keyboard licks. A timeless record. David Emm
1) The first couple of minutes of "Kyrie" by Mister Mister. Not exactly a hook, but its a powerful moment all the same. 2) The first time I ran my first Prophet-600 through a grainy reverb and heard this mega-LFO chord I liked blossom like mad.
