Mark Schmieder
https://celebritiesdeaths.com/gary-peacock-death-dead-obituary-american-jazz-double-bassist-has-died/ One of my biggest influences, up there with Dave Holland, Charlie Haden, Cecil McBee, Paul Chambers, and on and on. I saw him live a few times, most recently (though a while back by now) with the Keith Jarrett Standards Trio. 85 years is a good long life, but not long enough for someone like him, as he had a healthy lifestyle. No cause of death yet. analogholic
RIP Gary Peacock! One of my favourite double bass players and the perfect match for Keith Jarrett. Werno
Here's NPR's obit, which has a nice mix of biographical and artistic development info. A bass player always ahead of his time.
Docbop
I watched my DVD of Keith Jarrett Trio last night and one song the camera is on Gary for most the tune. Just watching his get into what was going on and smiling looking at Keith and grinning, every once in awhile he'd look at his bass to check his position, but alway back to this smile loving how the music was coming out. I was so happy and sad at the same time watching. Thank you Gary.
