Song80s
Girl groups or groups with strong female vocals exploded onto the music scene 70's and 80's. Pretenders are a good example. There was Pat Benatar and Joan Jett and countless others. There is a lot of catchy guitar work behind Brass in Pocket. The rhythm section is rock solid. My sister and other friends asked that I cover the song. enjoying the challenge ! You are a better man than I!!! I've been the James Honeyman Scott of the group but singing a Pretenders song? Yikes! Chrissie had a very unique voice and style. We can't forget Joni Mitchell!!! I've heard a rare few covers of any of her tunes that worked well, tough act to follow, that. I was in a band that played Mystery Achievement, Tattooed Love Boys and Precious. Also in another band that played Middle Of The Road. HUGE Chrissie Hynde fan, AND Joni Mitchell fan. I saw Joan Jett twice, fun in concert but not lyrically on the same level (then again, who is?). Best live show by far was the Divinyls, they opened for Aerosmith and blew them off the stage. Christina Amphlett was a force of Nature, the eye of the hurricane. Bonnie Raitt was amazing in her own unique way, so was Emmylou Harris. Probably the dumbest thing I didn't do was to drive from Fresno to Tulare and see Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt perform at the Tulare County Fair. I have no excuse... LOL, me will never sing. It will scare the cats and the Internet. I have Chrissies ISO vocal. Joni Mitchell is a Goddess. Quote Why fit in, when you were born to stand out ? ROTFLMAO (yeah, I'm old...). Joni Mitchell IS a Goddess. And I left a couple out. I went to a Cyndi Lauper concert, Romeo Void was opening. Cyndi was great, had Rick Derringer in her band and a bunch of hot shot NY studio cats. I went to high school with Debra Iyall from Romeo Void, we met at the backstage door and talked for about 5 minutes before the show. They were an interesting band too. Muad’Dib
Well, now I know why I"m here? Because, I feel Welcomed here, and accepted. Even, when I don"t always feel like it! Thank you! P.S. Had I"d known, we would be discussing the band The Pretenders, or female singers. I would have started a separate thread! Oh, well. It is, what it is!
