A friend of mine borrowed my amp(Mesa JP2C+) last night, He turned on the amp and was playing , after the first song he accidently unplugged the speaker cabinet for about 5 seconds, he was not playing but the amp was not in standby. Plugged it back in to the cabinet, and then switched it to standby (played the rest of the night with no problems). He told me this morning , the amp is working, and has no funny smell. I told him not to worry, but he felt he should at least let me know. He said he cannot afford to have it repaired , I told him it prolly doesn't need to be repaired as its working fine and mesa's have very durable transformers.

Just want your opinion, What do you think? Is there anything to worry about?

Thanks Lok

I can answer that. If it's working fine, it is fine. If the speaker is not connected there can be heat buildup in the secondary of the output transformer since there is nowhere else for that energy to go.

It could take considerable time to get hot enough to cause damage. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

It took a chunk of my life to get here and I am still not sure where "here" is.

Thanks Kuru

That was how I was thinking, No input signal into the amp so no signal going to the output section. Still not something I want to try.

Thanks
