Song80s
I have surgery scheduled this Monday As a precaution, I was tested for Covid 19. The swab procedure is not that uncomfortable I rate it a ' 3 ' on a scale of 10. with 10 being painful. Quote Why fit in, when you were born to stand out ? Anderton
Agreed. I got swabbed when I got really sick for the first time in years, and the doctor wanted to test me for flu. The test came up negative for flu, but then again, this was before COVID-19 had become a thing. But more importantly, good luck with your surgery! Joe Muscara
I visit an ENT regularly, especially after having septoplasty. I'm pretty used to having stuff shoved up my nose so he can look around and clean things out. I think the COVID 19 test would be a piece of cake compared to that. Song80s
Roll up a C note and Hold it up to your nose. Then push the swab up through it. Then you can think about ...... nevermind I have 8 C notes in my Korg Kronos keyboard. I am not sure I can hold the C notes up against my nose and shove a swab up them. Do musicians in Visalia have huge noses and huge nostrils in Visalia ? I am not familiar with the technique you describe I have thought about it Quote Why fit in, when you were born to stand out ? Song80s
wow, it took a week to get my Covid lab test result. IOW, I was tested July 16, and finally got the result today, July 23. My result is " Not detected" as of July 16. I am glad I contributed a positive result to California's Positivity rate metric which is 7.6% Quote Why fit in, when you were born to stand out ? Greg Mein
I have not had the test but my wife did about a month ago. Neither of us are/were experiencing symptoms but she volunteered so as to ad to the data pool and as a health care professional at the University Hospitals/Clinics testing was convenient and easily accessible for her. It only took a couple days for her results which were negative. I didn't figure it was really necessary for me to take a test after that and there really hasn't been any specific reason or convenient access for me to do so. We were both sick with some sort of cold/flu around the first week of January but otherwise, except for some typical mild seasonal allergy symptoms, I haven't been this healthy in years it would seem. I was left wondering, if covid-19 is as contagious as some reports would seemingly lead you to believe, why is it necessary to shove a cotton swab so deep into your nasal cavity? Song80s
Hi Greg. Covid 19 is contagious. The US exceeded 4 million cases today. just, 2 weeks ago, US exceeded 3 million. a 1 million increase in just 2 weeks. thats contagious. true, contagiousness varies by state, by county, by town. In IOWA, positive cases are rising per this graph the past 30 days: https://coronavirus.iowa.gov/#CurrentStatus Plus Iowa's positivity rate is 9.3%. This is high https://coronavirus.iowa.gov/pages/case-counts I don't know what county you are in. I would go by corona spread based on your county, then your town. Hopefully, Iowa county health authorities have robust reporting. I go by what medical science and health experts say. We see reporting by county and by town. We know what is taking place in our town, neighboring towns, then our county. In my county, Contra Costa, here in CA , the positivity rate is 8%. It is rising. Contra Costa has 1.1 million people. These metrics indicate Covid 19 is continuing to spread into the county population. My wife, a school teacher , and I , understand the risks involved with Covid 19 spread and do not want to catch it. Ever. We take every precaution , have adapted, and will continue to do so. Some of our neighbors take chances , have street parties, freely congregate, no masks , no precautions from what we see of them outside. Thats their call what they do with family and friends. We can almost determine risk assessment by individual on a scale of 10. My wife and I are 9.5/10. We don't take chances. We have excellent quality of life. I have high confidence in our medical facilities and health care. I had hernia surgery at Kaiser, last Monday. With that experience fresh in mind, I am more impressed by the precautions taken.
