KuruPrionz Posted July 11, 2020 Share Posted July 11, 2020 Having set up hundreds of Strats, there are some variations - primarily based on cost as near as I can tell. The cheaper Strat copies (bajillions of them!!!!) have slightly less substantial springs but not much. There's no savings if you have to add another spring to get the tension. The claw is adjustable, changes the tension. The number of springs changes the tension. With 3 springs you can run 2 diagonally instead of straight, that changes the tension. If somebody uses super light 8-42 strings then 2 springs is probably enough. If somebody uses 13-56 then 5 springs ought to do it.
