I would like to think that the XK5's leslie sim is good enough so that another leslie sim isn't necessary; that being said if you can't find a small leslie to use like a Leslie studio 12 (Link) then I would go with the Vent.

I have a vent II with an XK5 and it sounds great. I push it through a 145 once in awhile and it's fantastic.

Dave it's OK from what I can see but I haven't judged it live. You can change a lot of it if you want (cabinets, ramps up and down speeds etc) I actually have a gig tomorrow night (imagine that!) I want to try the onboard sim to see how it is. I will have the Vent there in case. My sound guy is also on this gig as we are both subs so we will see as he will let me know how it sounds front of house. As I spend a lot of time with Leslie's it helps to really judge the sims so I will let you guys know what in the next couple days.

One of the things I am going to be listening to when the SKX arrives is how does the Leslie sim react to the swell pedal. Does the overdrive clean up when you let off the gas? Does it get nasty when you put the pedal down. The Overdrive is what I think is special on the Vent. It reacts like a cabinet.

Funny how the now old vent is still King. Or at least at the top level of contenders.

Some good things will stand the test of time. Off-topic, I've always been interested in car radar detectors. I still run the original Escort Redline that was introduced in 2001. Despite all of the great new improvements in this territory in recent years it amazes me that only when the Uniden R1/R3 models were introduced a couple of years ago did the Redline give up its title of long range king. It still contends with the best, much like I feel about how my Voce V5+ still contends with the organ modules currently on the market, not the best but pretty close, especially when run through a real leslie (just wish the C/V were better).
