xKnuckles
Is there any way that the forum search tool could be be made to encompass a much larger period of time? One year is nowhere near enough ....it means repeating the search over and over again... this forcing the seeker to commit a Svengleglegleglegle .... which I understand is potentially hazardous to the health.... A search for all time would be brilliant....but I would happily settle for 7 years..... Quote "Turn your fingers into a dust rag and keep them keys clean!" marczellm
Do you know the Google trick with the site keyword: If you search for "site:musicplayer.com chicken foot" for example, it will only give you results from this site. xKnuckles
I did come across that method in the past, Marc, but I assumed that now that we have a shiny new forum, the included search engine would be able to do the trick.... AnotherScott
When the pianoworld forum updated (they use the same underlying software), they increased the search period from 2 years to 4. I'd hoped the same would happen here, but unfortunately, it went down from 2 years to 1! Yeah, that's disappointing, you have to keep doing the same search again and again for different years. I use the google approach too, but it has other limitations, like it can't differentiate between when a keyboard is actually being mentioned in a post vs. just listed in a sig, or when it is the topic (subject line) of a thread rather than mentioned within it. Quote Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)
Dave Bryce
There's a warning in the control panel that longer searches slow the forum down. I think that's why Jim set it to one year....but that was before we had our own server. I just set it for three years. Let's see if that negatively impacts us. If not, maybe I can increase it a little bit at a time to see what happens. Hope that helps! dB Quote ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==

xKnuckles
That's brilliant Dave - Thanks. I like the idea of notching it up bit by bit.....trying to expand the searches without causing the forum to explode.... Quote "Turn your fingers into a dust rag and keep them keys clean!"
