Dave Bryce
I have two Moogerfoogers that I bought almost 20 years ago - the Low Pass Filter and the Phaser. Both have seen low hours, and neither function correctly. A friend of mine who's a tech opned them up to clean them out and see if he could figure out what was up. He tells me that both of these are suffering from poor solder and sloppy assembly. He says both need a bunch of work and more than a few components replaced to make them functional. Anybody else have any problems with any Moggerfoogers, especially older ones? dB Quote ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==
ksoper
I have a MuRF (no midi), ring mod and delay 104z. The only problem I've had is the bottom plate of the delay was too close to a component. Sometimes the plate would flex and bump against whatever it was, causing weirdness. I took an old credit card and glued it to the plate. Solved. Doerfler
I have the 101, 102 and 103. The 103 is only a year old, was the last batch they sold. The other 2 are not that new but certainly not as old as yourses. No problems for me Guessing quality improved when the company went from Big Briar to Moog Music? ksoper
Guessing quality improved when the company went from Big Briar to Moog Music? Mine are circa '05-'07. It's possible the loose ends were tied up once Mike Adams came aboard in 2002. The Real MC
Seven MF pedals including an older 101 and a pair of original 104 pedals from the Big Briar era. I've been under the hood in all of them and don't see workmanship issues, had zero problems. How does your tech know what is wrong if there are no known schematics for them? I'm a "friend of the company" and I don't even have schematics for them.
Markyboard
No problem with mine from as early as 2005. Pics?
RABid
Had 5 to use with my modular. Never on the floor or stomped, just pushed the switches with my fingers. No issues during the short time I used them. Found that I preferred the sound and control of various other brands so they ended up sitting on my shelf for many years. Finally sold them a couple years ago. Hope they were okay. Dave Bryce
How does your tech know what is wrong if there are no known schematics for them? All he knows is what I told him, which was that neither of them is functioning correctly. Both were noisy, so I asked him to clean them out for me. He said the solder was badly oxidized on both units, and that a bunch of the points were sloppily done. He reflowed and cleaned up the solder in both units, but both units still have problems. dB Quote ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==
