CEB
Day 2. Professor Longhair by way of Larry Knechtel [video:youtube] This song as a boy changed my outlook on piano. The man who played piano on this Johnny Rivers tune was Larry Knechtel. I saw in an article that this song was originally by Huey Piano Smith. A few years later I saw an ad for the Dr John video course on New Orleans piano and it reference the Huey Smith song in the ad. The Dr John course introduced me to Fess and that was that. ð [video:youtube] The Dr John tapes were cool. I wonder if they are on DVD. Joe Muscara
The Dr John tapes were cool. I wonder if they are on DVD. Homespun is still out there, and the answer to your question is yes. Konnector
Gonzalo Rubalcaba is a monster! I'm not a jazzer by trade, but I bought his CD "Diz" about 20 odd years ago on a whim when I was searching for some sort of chaotic bebop style piano trio jazz. It was the only type of jazz that caught my attention. (Never heard of him prior to that.) Liked it a lot. Needless to say, I still give it a spin from time to time.
