grapher456
So I'm a one-man band of sorts, I make up for not having band members with a loop station. Now with my boss rc300 I can set track lengths. That's really nice because it means I can spend multiple measures making a good sounding chord progression but only use like one or two for the percussion track allowing me to layer multiple drums quickly as apposed to waiting for the full chord progression to finish before adding another layer. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this on my Motif piano. I can set the length of the loop, but that changes the length of all 16 tracks, I'd assume there's an option to change this but I can't figure it out. Bif_
In pattern mode, on the right side of the display it says "MEAS" and there's an icon of some keyboard keys. Beneath that it should display 001:01/004. For this explanation, I call that 00'X':0'Y'/00'Z', where 'X' is the measure number, 'Y' is the beat within the measure, and 'Z' is the number of measures. To accomplish what you're wanting to do, set 'Z' to however many measures you want to record in the pattern for your chord progression. Then when you change to a different part to record the percussion parts, change 'Z' to that length. For example, if you set 'Z' to 8 and then recorded 8 bars of chords, then changed 'Z' to 2 and start recording the percussion part, the percussion part will loop after two bars. Pattern mode is cool because you can set different part loop lengths for each part. If you want to have some fun, try recording multiple parts with different pattern lengths. Make some of them odd numbers of measures and it can get interesting. Hope this helps.
