Cheap fun toys/tools?

Recommended Posts

Cleaning out some drawers, I found a few gift cards to my local music shop.

Assuming they'll honor them (they're a few years old), I've got $70 of funny money.

So, what should I get for $70-120 dollars? A beatstep or some other controller? A pedal of some sort? Some aux percussion?

I'd like to treat myself to something, and not just spend it on cables and stand lights, which is usually where my spare music cash goes.

I know this is aimed at guitarists, but it looks keyboard adaptable, and between the fx, looper, and drum patterns, it could wind up being a creative tool. It is 10 bucks above your card limit, though.

Just seems out of the ordinary for keys, but an interesting concept.

Melodeon maybe? If you don"t have one.

Its fun and can make a nice visual presentation. Stick a transducer on it and gig with it.

Or the cheapest Akai sampler for one shots.

If you want to go completely practical, the Arturia Keystep is a phenomenally good value for the money. For something more fun, what about a guitar pedal or two? TC and DigiTech have some pretty affordable models, as does BOSS... and for $70 you could get like THREE Behringer pedals. :)
