ChiefDanG
I was told the Hydrasynth is now in stock and shipping. Supposedly there were a ton of preorders, so it stands to reason that maybe a couple of KCers have just received one ? I"d love to read a 'real-world' review. Anybody? GovernorSilver
The most in-depth discussion I've seen so far on forums is this thread- granted I don't do the GS forum and the linked forum is more focused on synthesis than playing keys. scottasin
if you've got the time, this guy tends to cover it all pretty well [video:youtube]
BeeStep
I have the desktop unit and it is finally something that jumps out from the sea of analog and digital sameness. This baby is deep...but the design is brilliant and intuitive so you can create anything new in minutes The effects are some of the best of any device or rack equipment Built robust and ready for years of use.... Pwm for wave tables is awesome Tons of mod slots 32 Really covers so much territory but it"s easy to tweak which makes it very inspiring and fun
GovernorSilver
New update which is probably missing from the review videos - MPE support, Warm Mode, etc. http://www.mecldata.com/download/asm/Version_1.3.0_update.pdf
Stokely
I'm hearing some pretty positive stuff. Things like "yes it can do analog-sounding, the demos were mostly showing the crazy stuff as do the presets" I'm not ready to buy another keyboard but once I get my "bread and butter" sounds finalized it's on my radar for a synth-only board. I'd personally need it to do at least passable 70s/80s synth sounds (though I'm far from the most picky when it comes to matching sounds for covers). It's more likely I'll get a prophet rev2 though. The appeal here is that it would be something really neat for home studio use as well with the poly AT, the ribbon and now mpe etc. Edit: Thanks GovernorSilver for that forum link! I've never seen that one before. I get very turned off by GS and their super-long thread is about as snarky as you'd expect from them. GovernorSilver
I originally joined that forum for Octatrack discussion but it's turned into my alternative to GS, MW, etc. forums. They all talk about the same stuff, just varying degrees of maturity. BTW, just posted there - demo of the new Warm Mode. Tusker
BTW, just posted there - demo of the new Warm Mode. Thank you GS. Very illuminative video. It show just how much insight the ASM people have about good sound design.
Marzzz
I spent some time with it over the past two days, and I went from 'just want to try out the PolyAT' to being pretty impressed by the sound engine"s analog emulation. The desktop unit may be hard to resist at that price.
