Markyboard
[ Please do some pics from 1HU and desktop Solaris and let us know if the editor will be VST only or also a SCOPE device in addition. A.C. John Bowen wasn"t there when I stopped by earlier today but I asked the rep that was there. He mentioned several times that all 3 hardware versions can be controlled using sys ex and that it"s easy to look up the specific message for a given parameter. I asked if they planned to develop or have a third party develop an editor and I think he just didn"t know. Same with using Scope environment. He said maybe down the road but it was too early to know any specifics Sorry, couldn"t get any real info regarding this.

I asked in JB Synth Design forum meanwhile but no answer in regards of an editor up to now. But there´s info on MIDI multimode now. The new OS offers 4-part multitimbrality, voice count in even numbers only (2 / 4 / 6 / 8 voices per part). There are 10 voices available,- so configurations may be: 2/ 2/ 2/ 2 ... 4/ 4/ 2 ... 6/ 4/ 0/ 0 ... 4/ 2/ 2/ 2 ... 6/ 2/ 2/ 0 ... 8/ 2/ 0/ 0 etc.. It´s all about each SHARC chip does 2 voices and patches will be downloaded to the chip. To keep consistency w/ the 4 part buttons on the front panel, they leaved it w/ 4-part multitimbrality instead of 5 parts possible at max. The 6th SHARC chip was always striktly for the I/Os and FX. ProfD
Because my DP is monotimbral (SV-1), I've toyed with the idea of scooping up a few old school tone generators and loading them into a 4-6 space rack. IMO, the desktop units are great especially in a studio environment. Using them in live performance potentially means schlepping a table-like stand or building a surface to fit on a tier of the KB stand. I guess it is time to accept that smaller KBs and VSTs have eliminated the need for hardware samplers and rackmount tone generators. uhoh7
I'd submit the rack is already long back. But it's a fancy reincarnation: Eurorack.
