No specs yet. Will look up later at the vendor website to see if there's more there, as well as audio demos.

These have my attention. I've always wanted a passive MusicMan but they are rare, and this might work well as a short-scale.

Depending on what material the darker fingerboard is (I despise rosewood), I'd probably go for the maple one.

Absolutely no info at the MusicMan site, Sweetwater, or on YouTube. But the regular expensive version (this one is a Sterling cheapo bass) was new just last year, and I found a Sweetwater NAMM video for that announcement (unfortunately sans audio demo).

The Sterling stuff is good kit.
I like that the top horn extends to the 11th fret. It should balance very well on it's own.

I have 2 good basses already, plenty for a guitarist who subs and records.
I would be interested when these eventually come up used for $300 or less.

Agree with the maple, if I am going with wood it's either maple or ebony for fretboards. I've got a couple older guitars with Brazilian rosewood, that's pretty nice stuff too.

Most vendors have now updated their sites for new products. And some new stuff has audio demos. But these items remain a mystery, showing up only at Musician's Friend and sans info or demos.

My concern is that this probably means they won't show up in stores and would have to be ordered as a crap shoot.

I guess we'll see. If MF has them then it would make sense for Guitar Center to carry them too, the combined buying power of the two would be an advantage.
A friend buys short scale basses at our GC and it's a small store in a small city.

I'm not so sure. I thought they were the same, but a store manager recently told me they aren't; that they compete, but do share a warehouse. Is it like what the Japanese call "coopetician"?
