Mighty Motif Max
This is Korg's current Instagram Story: [video:youtube] I mentioned this in the NAMM speculation thread as well, but at the tail end of the video, there are two Kronos-lookalikes with different coloring and end caps than I recall seeing before. I thought they were Platinums too at first, but the Platinum models have black end cheeks and these have a light tan color. Like you said it could be just another color paint job though. GuiliClayder
Platinum looks like cr*p, sorry to say. I prefer the black colour with the wooden endcaps. Doesn't look like a new Kronos, though, but a huge price drop might be interesting, say, oh, about 40% Quote A long time ago, in a musical galaxy far, far away... CEB
Platinum, gold, white, champagne, lighter colors etc... works better than black with production stage lighting. Black just sucks light. AnotherScott
Platinum, gold, white, champagne, lighter colors etc... works better than black with production stage lighting. Black just sucks light. Exactly. The black-on-black Kronos design makes it unnecessarily more difficult to use. The buttons are especially bad, which are thin and butt right up against each other, further impeding your ability to make quick, precise selections. MAJUSCULE
Releasing a Kronos 3 on top of everything else they've already announced/leaked would be the definition of R&D biting off more than Marketing can chew. ElmerJFudd
My question is where do they go with a Kronos 3? All I can think of is more storage, more RAM, quicker processor. Quote Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-
Song80s
we have been speculating Kronos 3 for a few years. Long list of improvements requested over the past 2-3 years. I would be surprised [ in a good way ] if Korg made a move like that. Quote Why fit in, when you were born to stand out ? Moonglow
I didn"t care for the 'splash of red' Kronos but really like how they did Jordan Rudess" custom paint job, which looks like the same pattern but in blue. I"m also partial to the original Kronos color. Perhaps slash the price of the current Kronos, thus stealing the thunder from Roland's Fantom, in preparation for a release of the Kronos 3 next year ? Radagast
My question is where do they go with a Kronos 3? All I can think of is more storage, more RAM, quicker processor. That"s easy to answer. More sound engines. More physical modeling, additive synthesis/resynthesis. Easy integration with other softsynth platforms.
timwat
How about an idea for a new 10th engine: Whatever vintage synth Behringer recreates, the new engine automatically loads it into the Kronos. Quote ..

Sometimes we can take a clue from Korg marketing. They put on a strong media press for their other new 2020 keyboard products. Not seeing any marketing on Kronos 2. If its a new color, they will have a product specialist do a video. Like the 2019 Kronos SE last NAMM. Quote Why fit in, when you were born to stand out ? Mighty Motif Max
Okay. Unfortunately, @korgofficial on Instagram has confirmed that it"s just another color option. Still, I like that color better than any of the others. The light wood panels plus the platinum is nice. I do like the SE red splash too though.
