It must've been that swampy New Orleans airâ¦

{BTW, it's been slow for me this AM at times, too}

I'm not so worried about how long it takes for the forum to load. My worry is about how long it takes for my posts to post. You really NEED to see my words within 5 seconds. If you had to wait 30 or more seconds I'm sure that serious damage could occur.

I hear ya...but...

When we tried implementing HTTPS a few months back, it not only slowed the forum down (which will not be an issue once we migrate), but it also broke the link for every video that's been posted for the last 20 years of the forum's existence. :rolleyes::facepalm::eek:

Considering all we have are the email addresses and passwords people use to sign up, I'm not sure that's a good tradeoff.

Jim will see if there's anything we can do to get around that after the migration to the dedicated server...which should happen very soon now.

I believe MPN will need to go to https soon. Even email addresses are PII (personally identifiable information), and GDPR and CCPA require that PII be protected, and using https instead of http helps with that. Many here use their real names for their handles, or share their real names in their signature. Use of https helps with other things too. Consider that youtube always forces use of https, even for video playback by users who are not signed in to youtube/google.

I know that every other forum I'm on is HTTPS and videos all work.
Sure...but are they links or embedded? If links, was the forum HTTP before becoming HTTPS, and were the video links in place before the forum converted to HTTPS?

If so, please ask them how they did it. :poke::D

That's the problem - not video support.:idk:

But I work in tech, and know it "isn't that simple". But it also "shouldn't be hard". Famous words from the Dilbert bosses of the world....

We're finishing up the migration first. There are a few issues from that, and Jim prefers to deal with one thing at a time.

He'll certainly look into whether there's a solution, though.

I don't know if this will help, but you can access this page from rolandclan via http (not using https), and it contains links to various youtube videos, where some URLs are specified with http://........ and others with https://........

Youtube seems to force you to a URL that starts with https even if your requested URL starts with just http.

Is the issue with videos from sources other than youtube?
