OT: Misconstrued Song Endings

Recommended Posts

It's a rainy and boring morning here and I don't have much work to do, so...

We've discussed misheard song lyrics from time to time, but this is a bit different... the words heard as a song is ending and/or fading out.

First up is Sister Golden Hair by America. Someone I know thought they were singing "Bob Dylan" over and over again at the end instead of "bop doo wop" or whatever.

Next is one I've wondered about for quite awhile. At the end of Steve Winwood's Finer Things (some versions), I thought he was singing "Pepsi, Pepsi, Pepsi, Oh Oh" as the song starts to fade out. Apparently the actual lyrics are "Dancing, Dancing, Dancing, Oh Oh."

But the real classic would have to be the end of The Beatles Hello, Goodbye. Sure sounds like "Hey la, hey la hey lo ah, upchuck upchuck."

I'm sure there are many more out there,

As one who's done the puking thing recently...not funny. Lemme at least get my feet back under me first! Nausea is my least favorite sensation. I'll take pain (within reason) over nausea.

Unless I'm hearing it wrong, I can think of some songs that I've heard on the radio, where if they let the fade out go long enough, the artist slips in some profanity. One that comes to mind is Midnight Rendezvous by the Baby's. Pretty sure I hear "All I wanna do is F--- You"

Well, for my part, I've been trying for years to figure out what it means to be wrapped up like a douche....

One of the guitarists in my old band did this to great effect when we were making our second record. The other guitarist, who did the engineering and mixing, edited it out before the record came out, but I think we all subconsciously hear the additional filthy lyrics in the outro anytime we hear the song now.
