Here's a fun one. Rick Beato has done videos for best keyboard, electric and acoustic guitar intros... and now adds drums!

Are any of your favorites missing?

I would say "Brick House" by the Commodores should've been on that list. This list seemed to have been more rock focused. Great songs nonetheless.

Yeah, I suspect everyones list will be a little different. Here are some of my "honorable" mentions:

Rush - Digital Man and tom Sawyer (heck, Neil Pert could have his own top 20!)
Beatles - Come Together
INXS - Need You Tonight
Dave Matthews Band - Ants Marching (just snare on 2&4, what?!)
Led Zeppelin - Good Times Bad Times
Brubeck - Take 5 (not a huge jazz guy, but talk about iconic!)
John Mayer - Belief
REM - It's The End Of The World
Rolling Stones - Honky Talk Woman
Safaris - Wipeout (loved this when I was a kid!)

Well since you mentioned “Jazz” I’ll also include one of my favorite intros by Herbie Hancock called “Good Question.” Tony Williams on drums with Jaco Pastorious on bass.

I've got no business being here, but I saw the thread title and got curious.
First song that popped into my head was:
Ain't to Proud to Beg/Temptations
2 beats of iconic, instantly recognizable brilliance that has been copied and imitated for decades!

So many but, one is: “We’re an American Band” by Grand Funk Railroad.
Did you know that Don Brewer not only played drums on this hit; he was also the lead singer.

"We're an American Band" is one of my favorites as well which I should have mentioned above. An interesting bit of trivia is that Mark Farner claims he came up with that drum intro. Farner is an accomplished drummer and did a high energy percussion segment in Grand Funk shows where he and Don Brewer played together with Farner on Timbales. Here is a quote from Farner regarding the Drum intro:

"I did write the drum lick on the intro of '...American Band', Brewer didn't even own a cowbell, dude. I'm serious. I said, 'We've got to have a cowbell on that song.' I gave him the (songwriting) credit; He said, 'I've never had a single songwriting credit, can I take it on this?' I said, 'Yeah, go ahead, even though that's my drum lick and my cowbell on there.' I gave that (credit) to him as a friend. Then he wanted half my royalties for 'Creepin',' which was on the B-side, because '...American Band' was such a big hit."

Maybe there are two players but it's a drum intro. And it's awesome.
