I saw Christian and his trio last night here out in the Pacific barrens... Wow. Such a deep player, with total command of the piano. Touch, dynamics, harmony, pacing, writing, communication with the other players. It was a deep lesson, for sure.

I highly recommend you go see him if he plays in your area.

Anyone have recommended recordings for me to go deeper into his work? I have the Live At The Vanguard Christian McBride trio recording that was mentioned here some time ago.

I particularly like the Reach Further EP, but Reach and Facing Dragons are cool, too. I thank Christian McBride and that Village Vanguard album for turning me on to him. thu
