Since YouTube doesn't seem to allow watching embedded videos full screen anymore, it does allow for a better viewing experience if you actually want to watch the video. Plus the old forum software used flash which meant on many browsers the only option was to leave the site and watch on YouTube rather than watching embedded, which is no longer the case. Personally I would only want the smaller videos if there was an option to view full screen, but that's a YouTube restriction, AFAIK.
