Anderton
I've been getting into using ATOM with Studio One because of the tight integration, but that's also a limitation. When used with other programs (try it with Live, very cool), it's much more general purpose - for example, you can use the top four knobs as general-purpose MIDI controls, whereas in Studio One, they have dedicated functions. However, you can fake ATOM into thinking Studio One is a third-party application pretty easily, and take advantage of what ATOM can do when it's not running Studio One. 1. Go to Studio One > Options > External Devices, and remove ATOM (it will have been automatically entered as a controller when Studio One booted up). 2. Click Add, and choose New Keyboard. Have it receive from ATOM, but not Send To anything. That's all there is to it. To confirm, if the light at the top of ATOM glows green instead of blue, ATOM thinks it's working with something other than Studio One. Mike Rivers
What does ATOM do? Or wouldn't I be interested if I didn't already know? Quote For a good time call http://mikeriversaudio.wordpress.com
Dr Mike Metlay
It's a small portable control surface with a pad grid. I am pretty sure it's well outside your wheelhouse, Mike. mike Quote Dr. Mike Metlay (PhD in nuclear physics, golly gosh) Musician, Author, Editor, Educator, Impresario, Online Radio Guy, Cut-Rate Polymath, and Kindly Pedant Editor-in-Chief, Bjooks ~ Author of SYNTH GEMS 1 clicky!: more about me ~ my radio station (and my fam) ~ my local tribe ~ my day job ~ my book ~ my music
Mike Rivers
Right you are. The PreSonus Faderport line is more my speed. I have a hard enough time remembering keyboard shortcuts, much less which color button to push. Anderton
Actually to be fair, the colors remind you of which button to push. I normally find these kinds of controllers more trouble than they're worth ("Hold the Gort button and double-tap the Glonk button to enable the metronome"), but this one is more logical than most.
