konaboy
Hi, can anybody give me any insight into the approximate cost of publishing a full page ad in a music tech publication such as Sound On Sound, KeyboardMag, Future Music etc? No particular reason other than curiosity about how the costs for printed and online publication ads compare to YT adsense, promotional videos and so on. thanks. Dave Bryce
Short answer: It varies a bunch depending on the magazine, placement in the book and the amount of insertions purchased - buying 6 ads at a time typically yields a much lower price per ad than 1. Also, the smart books have ad guys who tend to want to bundle print ads with online offerings. Having a history/personal relationship with a mag can help as well. Some of the mags offer remnant rates for unsold pages here and there, but the placement usually isn"t great. Hope that helps. dB Quote ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==
Stephen Fortner
IIRC, I think the last rate for a full-page display ad in Keyboard (the final print issue was April 2017) was $5,000. But because of what Dave Bryce said and numerous other factors, the number is pretty much meaningless, not unlike the MSRP for any instrument manufacturer that still uses those. konaboy
thank you Stephen and Dave, was only looking for ballpark figures, eg. $500, $5000 or $50,000. Quote hang out with me at woody piano shack
Jonathan Hughes
I've never advertised in any of those magazines, but the company I work for has advertised in magazines birth similar circulation sizes, and $4000 for a page isn't uncommon. Look up the website of the publishing company for each magazine, and they will probably have a rate card that you can download.
