I first saw Eddie Money in the 80's at the Ritz in NYC. His keyboardist, who I found to be riveting, turned out to be a relatively unknown (at least to me) Kevin Gilbert. I did not put this together until years after, when I had become a huge KG fan.

Much later I was in a band that opened for Eddie at Westbury Music Fair (or whatever they call it these days) here on Long Island.

I had rented backline to show in 2010 he headlined. His keyboard player had an XK3-C and a 147 Leslie with some other boards.

Now at this age I feel like I know what he was writing about. He was a nice guy and a fellow New Yorker:

Sorry to hear, but he was older than I thought, and I seem to recall reading of recent health scares. I hope he went in peace.

Loved Eddie Money, great songs, voice, his less is more style guitarist Jimmy Lyon and I am also a fan of Kevin Gilbert who should have and likely would have been more widely known and recognized for all his talent had he not died so young.

Love the Moneyman
According to his brother, his last dying gasp was “gimme some water”

When Eddie Money came out it felt like a breath of fresh air - just a guy and his band playing simple catchy songs with a minimum of fuss. Loved the guy... played Two Tickets to Paradise for many years. RIP frown

I remember him being pretty funny backstage and just a good guy to hang out with. He had great stories about not wanting to stay in the NYPD.

He didn't like being a cop.... there is a funny picture somewhere of him in uniform sitting ta desk at work with a disgusted look on his face and great hair I saw yesterday....I'll try to find it.
