I suppose the obvious ones go without saying...Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Hendrix. I'm thinking more of bands where the member are more or less alive (i.e., they may be missing a person or two), but aren't touring. Or at least I don't think they are...

I'd put Ultravox in that category. Would definitely pay to see them.
Johnny Clegg died in July...how sad. Would have paid to see him and Savuka.
Talking Heads
Simple Minds
Dead Kennedys
The Special

Talking Heads for sure, although that's never gonna happen. I saw "Shrunken Heads" in 1989, all the band members without David Byrne. It was a CBGC tour including The Ramones and Blondie.
David Byrne is just not going to do it. Dammit. curse

A reason why I collect old keyboards is that I feel partly responsible for doing it, responsible for preserving history and being a custodian for these things
Plus, old gear has a story. I like that.

If I could go back in time and see them at their prime...

Three Dog Night
Led Zeppelin
Aretha Franklin
James Brown
Santana with either the original album members or the Moonflower tour members.

Aging stars worth seeing...

Gladys Knight - this woman must really know how to take care of her voice.
Elton John - He has changed his songs and dropped the key way down, and still makes a song sound good.

Back in time...

A regimental band the evening before Gettysburg.

John Philip Sousa in a gazebo concert immediately after the bombing of the Maine.

Ellington at the Cotton Club.

The best Neanderthal fireside flute band.

Olivier Messiaen’s first performance of “Quartet for the end of time”.

The short-lived French/German chorus singing “Stiller Nacht” Christmas Eve 1914.

This is turning into a Jose Philip Farmer novel!

Caedmon's Call.. but keep latter guitarist Andrew Osenga, too.
Sound of Contact (If Simon Collins and Dave Kerzner can get along)
Spock's Beard has already had a few get-togethers over the years; but I'd like to actually ATTEND one of them!
Led Zep - sure!
Triumph (yeah, they did it about 5 or 6 years ago, but I missed it)
Roxy Music - not just at the RnR HOF
Gentle Giant
Iona (with Nick Beggs on bass/stick)
Genesis - with Gabriel AND Hackett
White Heart (preferably the Florian, Gersmehl/Smiley/Wooten/Sallee/Knox lineup)

And as big of a Marillion fan as I am, I really don't want to see a reunion with original frontman Fish.

"Am I enough of a freak to be worth paying to see?"- Separated Out (Marillion)
NEW band Old band

Guess I should mention Ella Fitzgerald since she had more effect on my lead synth chops than any other artist.
