My compressor and 2B arrived yesterday, since my father went to the effort to gift wrap them I'm waiting till tonight to open them. Tomorrow I will begin to work on what stays and what order.

Thanks everyone for the advice and also the birthday wishes. I have been playing around with my new toys for the past few days and this is what I'm going with: Keeley Compressor > Satisfaction Fuzz>Fulltone 2B in front, JHS Tidewater Mini Tremolo and MXR CC Delay in the loop. For now, at least, I'm leaving my TS9 and Micro amp off.

If you decide to get one, don’t overlook the SG-clones from Japanese builders:

Japanese “SGs”

confused Surfer Girl Clones... ?! crazy OH, SG clones! rawk Yeah, those look to be nice axes.

On that matter, I'll point out that used specimens of the now out-of-production U.S. Masters Hornet are an excellent variation on the SG-theme that pack a LOT of innovative features and high quality, especially for the prices that they tend to go for- if you can find one.

The Hornet is top of my SG clone list. I was saving up for a spalted maple 3HB version with MoP Maltese Cross fingerboard inlays when they went under.

A couple of years later, a 2HB version with those specs showed up on Reverb. It had been in a fire, but professionally refurbished to full- if scorched- functionality. But they were asking was...ambitious, IMHO. They weren’t even using the same brand of HB. I contacted the seller, and asked him about it. Made a counteroffer.

They refused it.

Somebody bought it, though.

There’s currently 2 unscorched Hornets on sale on Reverb, though...
