RABid
I have a few old cameras that I never use and no idea what to do with them. I've given a few away, but I hate to do that with something like me Canon 5D Mark 1. How do you get rid of your nicer outdated cameras? Ebay? Amazon? ... Quote This post edited for speling. Joe Muscara
I would think something like the 5D could still be useful. RichieP_MechE
I sold one at a yard sale a number of years ago (Fuji Finepix S3000) and another on ebay (Canon 7D). You might consider donating to a local school that has a photography class, I could see them getting a lot of use out of a 5D.
Víctor1642608484
I was thinking about replacing my Nikon D200 but the repair man told me "this camera stil got 75 % of its life left"...â¦â¦.so I forgot everything about itâ¦...I'll keep it. Synthoid
I would think something like the 5D could still be useful. Most definitely. A friend of mine still uses his old 5D... great pictures. RABid
I see on Ebay that they now go for around $350. Wow. Cameras devaluate faster than synths. I don't need it as a backup now that I have a 7D ii for birding. Maybe I can find a family member than can use it. Quote This post edited for speling. Synthoid
Yes. Technology marches on. Thing is though, you can snag some good deals... especially used lenses. Quote When an eel hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's a Moray.
RABid
At least lenses hold their value if you take care of them. I still use the first decent lenses that I bought with that 5D and see no need to upgrade them. I think my advice to anyone starting out in photography would be cheap camera, good lenses. KenElevenShadows
I usually sell them, and in fact am selling a Nikon D610 full frame DSLR on eBay right now. If I don't do this, they usually collect dust. Other great things to do with old cameras is modify them for infra-red, donate them to PhotoStart to help children learn about photography, or donate them to schools around your community. I've done all of that before as well except for modifying it for infra-red. Still need to do that at some point!!!
