Coker
One of my ZXA1s has been cutting out part of its sound for a second or two, then turning back on, then in a few seconds cutting out again. Rinse and repeat. I think this happens only after the speaker has been on for about an hour (not in the sun or in a hot room). The surface temperature on the metal back was about 102 F, but it was the same on the working speaker. I think only the low frequencies are dropping out. Has anyone had this problem? If it is fixable by me? Is the repair service that advertises on EBay useful? Thanks in advance. Quote CA93, MODX8, YC88, K8.
fjzingo
It has happened to me several times, but I think it has been due to that the preamp needs to work to hard. When given a stronger signal it doesnt happen, Quote /Fred Cantaloop Soulfetch Soulbox
brenner13
I do not have a lot of experience with your brand, but my powered speakers get grumpy when running audio out to FOH mixer that is sending back phantom power. After about an hour or so, the QSC goes all krunchy and the JBL shuts down completely in protest. The QSC seems most resilient and functions normally as soon as the phantom power is severed. Usually takes about 20 minutes for the JBL to cool down and start working again.
Coker
Thanks, folks. So far neither condition applies. I am running output at 5 and feeding it with a hot Kurzweil output. My local repair shop said he"s seen this in other ZAX1s and that the sole remedy is to repair or replace the power module. I am buying a replacement through an Ontario company and hoping for the best. Thanks Quote CA93, MODX8, YC88, K8.
