Another Faux Anodized/Brushed Aluminum Paint project

Recommended Posts

I was bored Saturday night, and felt the need to paint.

For kicks, I decided on my old Ultimate Support Ax-48.

  • Remove Superclamps
  • Remove Top
  • Remove handle and Cable tie downs
  • Automotive Paint degreaser/cleaner
  • 600grit sandpaper
  • Etching Primer, one pass.
  • Duplicolor Metalcast Ground Coat: two coats
  • Dry overnight
  • Duplicolor Metalcast Color Coat Anodized Red. Two coats. let dry for 30 minutes
  • Duplicolor Metalcast Color Coat Anodized Deep Purple: one coat. let dry 4 hours
  • Duplicolor Clear coat:

Its hard to get a good shot that shows it's more purple than red. I added the purple coat since the red was too bright (like what I put on my Vortex Wireless 2).

I'll be spraying the legs in Rustoleum flat black

Finally, My Red PX5S is once again disassembled. Insides are getting a good cleaning. Outside is being stripped of it's red paint, and will be getting new paint. Very dark.
