Since a big deal about grand piano is the action working with gravity, I wonder how this one does it. (No, I haven't watched the video or visited the Kickstarter.)

Developer knows the grand action is part of the desire to have a grand.

Hammers and dampers are behind the strings.

I haven"t seen where the modification is, but I"ll presume an energy transfer has been replaced to change direction to vertical. So potentially they"ve kept the feel in tact.

For grand action in tight space it competes with Yamaha Avant Grand and Kawai Novus.

But resonating strings in a wood box is so hard to replicate.

Sampling and modeling get you a certain amount of the way there.

Would be great to see innovations in omnidirectional amplification.

Gravity-return action? Joe and Elmer beat me to it, but as soon as I saw this I thought: upright strings = horizontal hammer motion = sprung return action, like in an upright.

I'm afraid decades of playing a baby grand at home have spoilt me and I have yet to find an upright action that I would rate as "enjoyable to play".

Opened this thread by accident. I just assumed this was about Klavins pianos. But this is something different.

I'm not surprised to hear the woman in the video mention Klavins name, considering he's the one who built the Modell 370, which was sampled and sold as The Giant.

... they"ve kept the feel in tact.

This is my all time favorite self defeating typo and this is only the second time I've ever seen it. The first was on a keyboard forum also.

The humor is, in point of fact,

The word itself is not in_tact

That is hardly new. Google giraffe piano, those were made a few hundred years ago.

Yeah, I was thinking about a space-saving "vertical grand" I saw at (I think) the Edison museum in the 1970s, built in the 1800s. Yeah(2), Vertical strings != grand due to gravity action. Personally I smell a scam.
