ap297
Is it possible for a Yamaha YC organ to control Vst organ on a laptop (i.e. VB3II)? Do all front panel YC sliders, buttons, switches, etc send out midi continuous controller messages allowing it to drive all corresponding functions on VB3II? Thinking I can velcro a YC to the top panel of a digital piano and have a super portable 2-keyboard setup.
ElmerJFudd
Hmmm, I guess you want to know if the Yamaha reface YC faders, buttons, switches send MIDI... Don"t own one so can"t test... reading up in the manual... https://aadl.org/files/catalog_guides/1508075_reface_manual.pdf Have you seen the StudioLogic MixFace SL? https://www.studiologic-music.com/products/mixface/ GM Lab organ controller kits http://www.gmlab.it/ Quote Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-
Dr Mike Metlay
Well, crud. The manual doesn't have a MIDI document for what messages the front panel sends, if any. We'll need to find someone using a Reface and ask. As Jeremy Hillary Boob PhD would say, "Be empirical -- Look!" pjd
You'll find the MIDI message info starting on page 15 of the Yamaha Data List PDF for the Reface series. Yamaha usually publishes a separate document -- the data list -- which has detailed voice and MIDI info. You should be able to find the Data List PDF in the downloads section of the Yamaha Reface YC product page. Hope this helps -- pj
ElmerJFudd
Data list https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/7/794817/reface_en_dl_b0.pdf The YC appears to receive for just about everything. But it"s not looking good for sending. I"d still want to hook up to MIDI OX to be certain. Quote Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-

I will never understand these decisions to ignore data that costs nothing to send or receive. Another recent example: the Korg minilogue xd keyboard doesn't send aftertouch, okay, fine, but it doesn't understand incoming aftertouch data over MIDI either, and neither does the module version. ElmerJFudd
Ah you know the bean counters. Can"t give away an organ and a controller at this price point or some similar business decision. Quote Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-

ap297
I am so bad at interpreting midi documentation. Am hoping someone can try driving VB3II from a Yamaha Reface YC and report back?
