Brian McConnon
Has anyone bought Soultone cymbals on Amazon? The prices are lower than anything I've seen and I'm wondering if they are the real deal. Many are sold under Prime, so auditioning and returning would be easy. dboomer
Yes. Disappointed two out of two times.
Brian McConnon
Bummer. Were you disappointed that they were not "authentic" (knock-offs, blem stock, etc) or you just don't like Soultone cymbals? Were you able to return them easily? I spent some time at their NAMM booth playing around and liked what I heard, but the Amazon prices seem too good to be true.
dboomer
I have no reason to believe they are not authentic. But after trying a ride and a crash, I think Amazon is just dropping the price because the demand is very low. I had to pay the return shipping charges but otherwise got a refund. matthew mcglynn
Whenever I'm shopping for cymbals online, I buy 2-3 of each one so I can audition them all (with the rest of my collection) and keep the one(s) I like the best. There seems to be a lot of variation in the sound of handmade cymbals, even within a single model and size. Good luck, Brian! Let us know how it goes. Brian McConnon
True, and a cymbal I like in a certain room or for a certain style sounds different in another venue or doesn't fit another genre well. Lately I've been looking to build up my cymbal collection like one would build a mic locker - a variety of tools to cover a variety of situations.
