YOU TUBE CLIPS DELETED???

Larryz

Recommended Posts

It looks like this site is deleting our YouTube clips and not accepting new postings. At least that's what I'm seeing on more than one thread (like the cool new effects and Phil McKnight thread). The site would not let me post a clip this morning and said something about having to use Adobe Flash. And even though I said OK for one post, the clip still wouldn't come up....anybody know whatz up? :idk

I just checked that Phil McKnight thread I started.

While I can"t see the vide, the original post looked like it was taking up the same amount of screen space as if it were still there. So, being unable to edit the post at this time, I quoted myself.

I ought this was a nifty little video. Interesting to see Ron Thorn- someone who knows guitars in a way that not all of us do- evaluates guitars while shopping.

The video is still there, but invisible.

I"m guessing some kind of bug.

Adoe flash is being fazed out, thankfully. Different browsers have different time line's. Adobe will stop supporting flash next year. I think not having videos will really hurt participation.

I tried 4 browsers and no videos.

Just checked the talk music forum and their videos are working just fine.

This is what I see also; a big blank space.

I've been getting a little pop-up at the bottom of the forum/browser saying that "only secure information is being shown. Do I want to allow unsecured content?" That might be the issue? Far be it from me to allow non-secure content, especially on a work computer.

I never watched many of the videos anyways especially when someone posts a bunch of videos just to make a single point. I always liked to post links to videos, but never the videos themselves, a bunch of videos on one post slows down the thread loading,

I"m guessing you"re on a PC? I don"t see that pop up on my Mac.

UBB says the embeds are http and are therefore incompatible with the https change. If that 's truly the case, I"m thinking maybe we"ll just ask them to revert us to http - we don"t collect any data from anybody other than the password you use for this site.

The https is slowing the site down some, too... ð

Will keep y"all posted.

Thanks for the update Dave! The YouTube clips have played a very important part of the fun of being on this forum site as we post a lot of music, pedal demos, guitar lessons, etc. It would be great to have all of the previous postings back and be able to post new ones. I'm not familiar with the advantage of the https change and would like to see if reverting to http would solve the issue. Thanks again!

FYI, On the dark screen issue, I like the brighter one and I switch to it each time I come on...thanks.

Take care, Larryz

Really the only pages that need to be secure are the login and profile pages.
