Muad’Dib
So, I recently downloaded SynthOne by AudioKit, and I must say it"s an awesome synth. It is totally free, since it"s an open source synth, for musicians to contribute their own sounds. It"s only for the Apple IPad and IPhone only. From the Apple App Store. Bluetooth compatible as well. I"m sure there are those who will not like it, because they don"t like Apple in general, but if you do, and you have an iPad or iPhone, this is an awesome synth. lutefiasco
It"s great. Some of the tuning stuff they"ve been adding is also really interesting, and I think it is or will be an AU soon. They also do the D1, which sells for $15 or so, and is full of shiny glittering 80s fabulous goodness.

Synthaholic
Did you also download their free FM synth? Markay
Pity they couldn't have been a little more creative in picking name. Synth 1 has been around since 2002. From wiki - "Synth1 is a software synthesizer designed by KVR user Daichi (Real name: Ichiro Toda æ¸ç°ä¸é [1]). It was originally designed as an emulation of the Nord Lead 2 synthesizer, and has since become a unique Virtual Studio Technology instrument and one of the most downloaded VST plug-ins of all time. GovernorSilver
Synth One is great. Will also get their Digital D1 synth, which is not free, but sales of D1 support the AudioKit open source project and Synth One. And well, I like its sounds. Muad’Dib
I downloaded it! Sounds just like the old DX-7.
Baggypants
Well, it will, because it's actually a sampled DX7, not synthesising in the classic sense. Allegedly it's a DX7 used by Bowie.
Muad’Dib
Cool! I noticed that both apps use Bluetooth for connection with a keyboard, like KORG"s microkey air.
FreshTrooperXBL
I love SynthOne a ton. I jive with how it sounds more than other synths in the App Store going for these types of poly synth sounds (save for Moog, and some others). I utilize the Bluetooth features by hooking up with my Yamaha MD-BT01 which is awesome for the most part.
Muad’Dib
I have also downloaded the FM Player, and have been noodling around with it. As I was previewing sounds, I noticed that some of the sounds, were not only from the original DX7 but the DX7-2 and the DX11 and the TX81z. Was the entire DX line sampled for this synth? Synthaholic
They have just updated the FM player with a bunch of new features, still free. I think if you just open it the update will happen in a few seconds. Dr Mike Metlay
Just a quick note: if you'd like to support AudioKit financially to help the development process continue, they do offer one for-sale app: the most excellent Digital D1, a PCM sample player with something like 1 GB of samples and some really great performance features. It'd be a bargain even if it wasn't also helping these guys out. Bobby Simons
Strongly agree re: Digital D1. Get it, find your best headphones, and lose the next couple of hours exploring the numerous deep, evolving presets. Many talented sound designers climbed on board for this one. Truly one of those iOS apps you"ll be tempted to dedicate a controller to in your rig.
