FL Studio

Recommended Posts

need some advice here. I will be hiring someone to teach me how to operate a DAW, since I am far from a computer expert. I told him that I would like a software that is very easy to learn and operate. all I want to do is record several tracks from my keyboards and modules. not looking to make a CD just some multi-tracks that I can cut, copy, repeat, etc. the guy that will be teaching me is recommending FL Studio. just wondering if everyone is agreeing with him for what I want to do.

I use FL Studio, when I try to record my keyboards or instruments, I get a loud screeching sound from my computer for some reason. I"d recommend it if you can do something to stop that sound if it makes it.
Yamaha MX49, Casio SK1/WK-7600, Korg Minilogue, Alesis SR-16, Casio CT-X3000, FL Studio, many VSTs, percussion, woodwinds, strings, and sound effects.

You probably won't find me people here using FL Studio, so there probably won't be many people who would go along with the recommendation. These days, pretty much any DAW will do what you need. Some of them do things slightly differently, so it really comes down to personal preference. If you have a Mac, I'd say just use GarageBand, since you already own it, and then upgrade to Logic if you outgrow it. If you have a PC, I'd suggest downloading a bunch of demo versions and following along with some YouTube tutorials to see if anything clicks. You say you're not a computer expert, but you were able to successfully type a paragraph and post it on this website, and really, that's all you need to get started with any of these programs.

I'm a Cubase fan. But really, like Jonathan said above me, for those functions any DAW should work.

If you really only want to multitrack, you could use audition.

But probably as soon as you get the hang of it, you want more.

If you are on Mac you can get GarageBand. Its free and a great way to start.
