I guess I'll fit right in here, since in all areas of music, including recording, I am a hack.

The great thing about music is that there's always something to learn. The frustrating thing about music is that there's always something to learn!

I'm right there with you, Brother Joe. Just so you know you are not alone. smile

A reason why I collect old keyboards is that I feel partly responsible for doing it, responsible for preserving history and being a custodian for these things
Plus, old gear has a story. I like that.

Yeah, I agree. This will be a nice addition to the MPN. I do a bit of personal recording so having access to really good advice and tips will be terrific!

The trouble with doing the job correctly first time, is no-one will ever know just how difficult it was.

As many forumites know, I love recording.

Knowledge of what mic is best suited for what application is definitely an area where I could use improvement. Lately Ive been interested in using multiple mics combined with very specific placement to get the sound I need.

Try adding a Little Labs IBP to the equation. It lets you vary the relative phase between 2 mics (not just invert polarity, like "phase" switches on most gear). Since moving mics around in multi-mic situations primarily affects the relative phase, it helps to have a bit more control over the process.

BTW it's always "testing 1, 2" because on 3 you have to lift something (Roadie wisdom)

Yes, definitely looking forward to contributing here. One of these days I'll figure out how to get the system to recognize my avatar, too. smile
