Got it!

Had to post....

I finally got my Ultimate AX 90!! I've been looking for at least a year. I posted about a month ago about one selling for over $1,100 on Reverb. Ridiculous. Well, not much later, and for far less, I saw one in an out town Craigslist ad. The seller was not interested in dealing with shipping or Paypallocal only, but.my brother in law was less than an hour away. I worked it out, and it arrived today. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Wow..what a grenade launcher. I LOVE IT!!! This thing is as solid as it looks. Set it all up, boards are as stable as can be, and it looks killer. Ive never really thought a lot about it stage presence, but after setting it up, it just feels like Ill be bringing some game to the stage! Weve got a 5 night casino gig coming up in August and Im soooo looking forward to NOT using an x stand ; )

I was worried about iPad placement. I use a K&M holder on a mic stand, and use the iPad w Setlist Maker for notes, lyrics and patch changes. The stand really doesnt work with the column on the AX90, so I stared at it for an hour, and literally wedged a piece of 2x2 foam between the Kronos & the column for the iPad to sit on. Cut a slit for the edge to sit in. Wedged another piece into the center channel on the column to bring the face more vertical, and put Velcro on one side of the foam, and the back of the iPad. Solid as a rock, aint going nowhere, light as can be & looks fine.. $0 Im going with it. Its nice in that it also hides the the iPad somewhat, or at least makes it look like part of the rig.

The stand is definitely heavier than most, but the canvas bag looks sturdy and it's easy to carry with the handle. Between the x-stand, custom 2nd tier for it, and the iPad holder/mic stand, I think it's a wash weight-wise. I can live with the foot pedal placement. Not ideal, but also not as bad as I expected given the legs on the stand. Ive kept my pedals on a foot board for awhile now, but that really wont be transferable to this stand. Gotta figure something out.

I can't believe I'm sooo jazzed about this stand!

Congrats. :2thu:

Now prepare for the deluge of criticisms that your shorter board is on the bottom... ;):snax:

LOL! You already said it, so I won't. Well I guess I sort of just did.

Honestly, it makes the most sense to have the Kronos on top because of access and viewing of the screen and controls. I totally get that. But that's also why I got the 61 key version of the Kronos and have a 76-key controller on bottom.

Man...tough crowd. Someone needs to make a list of all these taboos/faux pas in a stickie and label them with the "READ BEFORE POSTING" title :o

The XK is maybe an inch shorter then the Kronos, if that, so the stack certainly doesn't look inverted. I've played Hammond on the bottom for many years, in many configurations. I'd wind up having a seizure if I flipped that around. Besides, what J. Dan sez....gotta see the Kronos screen. I like my boards close together so there's no way to put the Kronos below and still be able to use the screen, knobs, sliders, etc. The XK serves only as a controller for the Kronos organ patches at this point, so I have no need to see anything on its surface. Far better than trying to play organ with the weighted Kronos keys. I think I'll stick with this setup.

Im guessing you prefer to play your organ seated.

I've always played seated. Started on a Hammond L-100....old habits die hard. Who knows though...with this stand, I may very well find myself on my feet more often!

Don't bother, everybody knows that nobody reads the stickies on this (or any other) forum. ;)

Kind of like nobody seems to pay any attention to "walk/don't walk" in crosswalks anymore.

On another note, while waiting for the AX90, I was doing some research into iPad holders, and came across this. Custom built to sit on top of the Kronos and able to slide the full length without hitting the knobs. 3D printed with the printing files posted on the site:

Looks pretty slick. Here's the files: clonk

OK...I'm now WAY over my posting limit.

First, congrats on your elegant solution, which makes perfect sense all around. It reminds me of my old Invisible Support 2-tier stand, whose arrival made everything almost breezy.

Second, I wish I could print out a Kronos in that manner, hah! Can you not already hear knives sharpening as lawyers draw up terms of file transfer and strict control of the complex materials a detailed print would require? Then there's the well-muscled mega-printer possessing multiple nozzles for the various substrates, especially powdered specialty metals. That will cost big dollars. If you thought Napster was the first blow against the music biz, just wait until the first person is prosecuted for illicitly selling the file for printing an Ableton Push. Eh, I'm creeping up on William Gibson territory there, but you know its coming. Not for me. I'm already about 60% methane. No smoking, please.
