montunoman
May I ask how Mrs. Moonglow feels about this gig? Has it been discussed? I had a gig at a mens club ( I guess thats a nice way to say strip club) I never brought up the details of the gig with my wife, and somehow she found out months later, and she didnt take it too well. Maybe if I told before hand she wouldve been O K with it? I doubt it! Anyways, it was a good gig and no complaints from me about the dancers

Moonglow
May I ask how Mrs. Moonglow feels about this gig? Has it been discussed? I told Ms. Glow within minutes of receiving the phone call informing of the gig. She laughed. I have a very cool wife who is secure in our relationship, as am I. We do have a band member whose wife is a real ball-buster, and I suspect he will adopt a less-than-forthright strategy. Don't roll that way, myself... Moonglow
I hope not to offend anyone, but here goes. Ill try to keep it rated PG-13. The venue more closely approximated a nightclub or lounge than a barn as previously described. There was also a D.J. and food buffet. Overall I found the night to be an interesting, yet rather bizarre, subcultural experience. Lots of visual stimuli and behavior that exceeded normative social boundaries, but I guess by definition thats what it is! Definitely felt like I needed to take a shower and/or wash my eyes out with bleach afterwards. Never really felt overly uncomfortable...they were friendly, welcoming folks who enjoyed our music (they want us for a return engagement)...but I did feel a little weird after the gig and still a little like that today. Sort of a delayed reaction, perhaps after the defensive/adaptive structures I needed to get through the evening settled down. Playing wise, I found it to be a distracting experience to which I never became completely habituated or desensitized. Funny, but the barrier of the stage sort of made me feel safe while playing. I'd look out to the crowd and it was easy to find some extreme, salacious activity going on. Around 20% of the participants were at least topless, a percentage that increased as the night progressed. Some participants were completely naked the entire time. Then Id look up and there's the nonstop pornos on the large TV screens behind the bar right next to where I was playing. While most of the hardcore activity took place up in the loft (usually, but not always, beyond my eye sight) there was constant frolicking on the dance floor that at times involved explicit intimate contact. Thanks to all for the input and sharing of experiences, it helped me prepare for the gig. I found Adans advice to be very helpful, and frequently reminded myself to focus on the job I needed to do. Not sure how I feel about a return engagement. While we appeared to enhance an enjoyable evening for most, the band is definitely not the main event, so that is probably not a difficult objective to accomplish. I again apologize to those who found this topic offensive, and totally understand if the moderators need to nuke this thread. Moonglow
Generally, yes. But we did work in a couple of ballads (e.g., Purple Rain) which actually seemed to facilitate more carnal activity.
