Re: Rivers of Nehil

Do all those cats sorta look like the same guy?

I'll have to look into that...I like conceptualists [*].

Well-recorded but only the sax solo really resonated w/me...Oh now the bass solo [5:08 + ] is giving me something to think abt & the drummist was clever throughout.

I also liked the little shiver-me-timbers ["shiver-me-timbres" ?] dance the vocalist did abt 6:15 in apparent response to the drum roll there [*]. :D

Thanks for showing us something new (at least to me), Hugh !

-------------------------------------

BTW & FWIW, Zappa's Inca Rds showed up (at least for me---YT picking material based on viewers's habits) as a follow up.

Could almost beb an extension of the "Owls" track !

[& the close-ups of FZ's fingers during his solo are particularly helpful  ]

I enjoy checking all of this stuff out.

I've been drawn back to the live album Emmylou Harris did with her incredible touring band, Spyboy, featuring New Orleans rhythm section of Brady Blade and Daryl Johnson and the incredible and vastly underrated Buddy Miller on guitar.

Y'know....

back in the '70's, when I was much THINNER and wore my hair in a PERM, my NICKNAME was "Q-Tip"! ;)

I used to counter and say, "Maybe you should make that "TAMPON!" :freak:

Mon Laferete's got an interesting vox timbre there...although it's diff in the other examples of her work I found.

That "little girl" tone kinda reminds me a bit of a less Edith Piaf, etc, but more importantly of someone more personal for me.

Victoria Williams, who here also steals a page from the Neil Jung gtr lesson book (2:18~2:42)

FWIW, here's Mon Laferte on gtr, too !

Thanks, Hugo !

Here's something absolutely new to me.

Got no idea who they are or anything at all.

After searching out a Jeff Healey clip to post here, I left the site running &, as happens, other material popped up.

Suddenly I heard this well, produced dynamic gtr solo over a string bank drifting somewhere beyond BBK's & Bill Szymczyk's version of "The Thrill Is Gone"

Dangalicious !

Who wants to tell me abt 'em or do I gotsta find out on my own ?!

Yeeees, Girl, but what can you tell me abt 'em ?

Good / Bad / Best material ?

Like most ppl, (The) Internet's made me impatient & never-got-enuff-time-to-even-spell-words-in-full------------make me hip & knowledgeable k-NOW ! :D

If y'all talkin' 'bout that clip at the top of this page, I gotta say( as a long time blues "aficionado").....

Whoever that be playing that tasty blues has(to paraphrase the great Jerry Lee...) "The blues by the horns!" ;) So....

Just WHO IS playing that fine guitar?

The clip at the top of the page is The Chemical Bros & doesn't seem to offer any blues content (although perhaps some discontent).

If yer axing abt the Blues Delight track,

that seems to be either Vincent Beaulne or possibly Laurent Trudel.

When I wake up in the dead of night, like tonight - already halfway through my 1st pot of coffee at 3:15 AM - I like to listen to something loud. This is what called to me this morning -

Well d, at the top of THIS page( and maybe for some reason at least on MY PC monitor) is indeed Blues Delight and a tune called "If I Had Money". And thanks for the name info. I'll try looking into it ;)
