Sven, you would be a perfect fit for the "Customer Experience Advocate" in the NYC office. Heck, you are already the KC Ambassador of Goodwill. Who could top that ?

A reason why I collect old keyboards is that I feel partly responsible for doing it, responsible for preserving history and being a custodian for these things
Plus, old gear has a story. I like that.

And even better if you convince them to allow you to telecommute.

Putting the "spit" in "Spitfire"! poke wink

The great thing about music is that there's always something to learn. The frustrating thing about music is that there's always something to learn!

what is this 'work ' or job thing that so many are obsessed with ?

It appears to be related to that elusive goal of making 'enough money '

Right. Why didn't Spitfire choose SF area? Rent/mortgage/cost of living is almost free! smile

Yes, NYC is such a bargain for cost of living. And the weather- mild winters, pleasant
summers.

I can see why NYC was a choice for an office smile

So far, only my initial response was serious. Everyone else is just being silly. wink

Whenever the need to travel between US and UK offices, NYC is a good choice to save time and expense . . . at least when compared to the west coast.

I think by "live comfortably" they mean having at least a one bedroom apartment. I know lots of folks who live on far less than that, and they might even say "comfortably," but they are shacking up in group houses in "characterful" neighborhoods or finding other creative living arrangements.

But it illustrates nicely why my music gig money is such a joke.

while studying at a community college I used to work for Avis in San Jose CA between 2001-2003. I could easily afford a one bedroom apartment, a brand new Triton Studio with all expansions and upright Yamaha, computers...etc... and still save money annually. With that kind of job, I couldn't probably survive a week in San Jose these days. Last I checked, that same apartment goes for $3400 a month and that was 2 years ago.

I like nostalgia. In 2001, I owned a townhouse in Dublin. I bought it for $225k.

I sold it for a stupid price 4 years ago.

I feel sorry for folks trying to get into home ownership these days.

It was hard back in the 80's/90's and so on but its nearly impossible these days
