Any one played through one of these or tried the Ibanez Nu Tubescreamer? This is using new tube technology from Korg. The thing puts out up to 50 watts at 4ohms. The head weighs 4.12 pounds and the cab weighs 13.92 pounds with a 10" Celestion G10R with ceramic magnet. Uses a 19 volt DC inline AC adapter. Costs about $330. If I did not already have so many amps I would be tempted to get one. The NuTube Tubescreamer is $250 at Sweetwater a little pricey or I go for it. May anyway as effects are smaller than amps. Granted this this is tiny compared to my Marshall half stack.

It sounds like a great little practice amp. You can always mic it (if needed) at bigger venues. Weight is a big factor for me so I would rather have a good little grab and go than a Marshall half stack. Most tubers putting out 50watts weigh about 40 or more pounds, so your little 20 pounder sounds like a good way to go. If you like the sound of the Vox amps, I say go for it! cool

Take care, Larryz

I've watched some demo/reviews of nu tubes... my conclusion was "interesting, but not quite there yet."

That is really my question. Does it sound and feel like a regular tube amp or effect in the case of the pedal? You can get just the NuTube 6P1 and the board for it with specs and pin out to build something yourself. I'll have to look around and see if someone has a schematic for a guitar amp. Save me the trouble of researching and designing something on my own.

Well it the NuTube is actually being used as part of the preamp section I think the power stage is a Class D solid state affair. The gain on the 6P1 is like 5 a 12AX7 is 100 so I think it's got a long way to go before it becomes interesting tech.
