sounds like he may bring it back into profitability with real reasonable changes.

Great clip DBM! The new CEO sounds cool. I think we have a chance at bringing the Gibson guitar section/business back to life and hopefully keep the brand alive...my LP Classic I bought last year has some shielding/ground issues probably due to the finish with static electricity. But it's not enough of a problem that will turn me off. I still love my LP! cool

Well, WE don't have a chance at ANYTHING! wink

But....HE does, and it does seem he's on the right track! smile

Best wishes for him and Gibson. We all(I think) hope he does well, right?

Not sure what you mean Fang...but I think WE do have a chance to purchase a Gibson and keep the old brand alive and keep the guitar line in business. I'm sure there are a lot of buyers out there that will not be included, as Gibson went down hill based upon many of the comments I get from my friends and from our forumites. +1 WE can all hope the new CEO can do well and turn things around...I like what I'm hearing from him so far. cool

Damn! Y'all must be that "life of the party" I done heard about! wink

What I meant was that Gibson being "kept alive" WON'T have anything to do with US, in that none of us will bother to BUY a Gibson(perhaps) until this new CEO first brings the PRODUCT back to it's "old glory". wink

Hadn't heard the clip yet (will soon + look for some text pages) but I'd point out that the best biz mgrs generally need a diff outlook than artists & even techies.
They need to see vision of how a product can evolve
while retaining it's aura
& remaining unique.

Even more tricky is seeing how it will fit w/other products that are still over the horizon.
Perhaps even trickier is luring a market rife w/consumers looking to buy the same thing as yesterday.

Nah---that's not what his actual job is....his job is to hire & direct innovative electronics cats & luthiers who may do what you suggest & do so across a range of price points that'll appeal to gtr newbies, high-rolling collectors & those looking for ways to advance the gtr in the 21st C, not just replicate instruments from 60 yrs ago. cool
