Talking about the PX-5s sucessor. Are these PX-5s models usually more featured, with more controls, faders, knobs? more sounds?

I know that nobody really knows till Casio release the PX5-S sucessor..., but I just wanted to know what to expect from this future model.

There's not really a "usually" since there's only been one. ;-) Okay, the PX-5S was in effect the second in the line, as a successor to the PX-3S, but it was still very different. For example, the 3 didn't have sliders/knobs and.only supported a single split point instead of three (or more for internal sounds, if you use hexlayers). But the basic distinction has been that the series has MIDI controller features but no speakers, whereas all the other Privias have speakers but lack MIDI controller features. (I keep wishing for models that have both!) There is a good comparison of PX-5S to the top-of-line speakered model, PX560, at https://casiomusicgear.wordpress.com/2016/01/11/the-definitive-px-5s-vs-px-560-comparison/ but I would not assume that a future PX5S replacement would necessarily have every PX5S differentiating feature, or that it would lack every PX560 differentiating feature.

Thanks! That's good info. I am now really waiting for the PX5S successor. MIDI is important for me, and not so much the speakers.

Rudi reviews both the PX-S1000 and the PX-S3000!

Super slim, light-weight, and being able to run off only 6 x AA batteries make the new Casio PXS range of digital pianos the perfect answer for the gigging musician. But if you prefer to stay home, the high-quality sound and feel mean the PXS-1000 & PXS-3000 are just as comfortable in the lounge room as on the stage!

What's the keybed action like? PH4, RH3, or somewhere inbetween? Improvement over the other Casio models
Rudi: You sort of hit it on the head, somewhere between Roland PHA4 and Korg RH3 :-) it feels really good and a definite improvement over previous (and other) Casio models.

Impressed by $, size, weight, seemingly very pianistically playable. Sampling and timbre/patch programming improving.

LOL, me too. Why do they do that? Casio isnít the only guilty one. Kurz, Kawai. . . just as bad. Might as well make them light up and blink.
I will get the optional stand and shove it against the wall, thatíll show Ďem.

Don't forget Korg, whose giant logo on the Grandstage literally does light up and blink, in various colors. (Thankfully that can be disabled.)

But with other manufacturers I would never mind the logo at all! I know it's awful, but with Casio I would still be wary about even one person thinking about or mentioning to me the brand's long time (probably no longer valid) association with cheap, cheesy keyboards and sounds.

I would imagine these sorts of things only matter to keyboard players in the audience who are a little on her older side and thatís a pretty small % of an audience depending on what sort of venues and styles you play. Regardless, a shiny black look is very nice coming from the white and blue PX-5S and Electric Blue PX-560. Especially for solo piano and combo gigs.

Kind of like using plastic knives and forks vibe with that name, yes! I don't care really when I gig my PX5s..but I understand why people might... I went through it a bit when I 1st started gigging it... it passed quickly, I really enjoy that action. . .

Perhaps they should have made it like PX130 that just said Privia.
I am tempted to get the 1000 for $480 over the 3000 for $640 (20% email coupon from national retailer).

Does anyone think the 3000 is worth the extra difference. I did read about things such as different amp simulators etc,, but are there more acoustic and EP sounds.

I'm not sure I would use all of the extras and come to think of it might not want pitch bend wheels on a DP.

S3000 has pitch bend, 782 additional presets, 200 accompaniment rhythms vs 0, and I think alternative velocity curves.

Actually, the CASIO logo is fine in my view. Not oversized - weíve been looking at it for years, after all. Itís the humongous ĎPriviaí in that artsy font more suited to a decor magazine logo that annoys me.

I don't know about that... I played a CDP-S100 very briefly, and the action it reminded me most of was the previous main Casio action (PX560, PX5S, etc.). I'd say the new action feels more like their last one than it does a PHA4 or RH3. It may play differently with their new sensor system or whatever, but strictly physically, the feel seems similar to me (though I was not actually playing them side by side).

I doubt a national retailer is emailing a 20% coupon that would actually apply. Maybe in a few years when new models are released. Although Adam at Kraft is flexible.

-Correct- although the coupons never work online I simply call with the code and the retailers I use do honor it over the phone- worked for my ES8/Krome/P125 etc..

Did anyone play both the new Casios and Yamahas at NAMM that could offer some comparisons?

Other than that I will just have to wait till the Casios come out. I really can't tell anything until I get hands on time.
