On January 24, I will meet Metallica in Nashville! My wife gave me her blessing to purchase a "Hardwired Experience" ticket. I was extremely hesitant at first because of the cost. But, she essentially said, "Go for it, babe! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity!" Therefore, I counted down the seconds until tickets went on sell (last Feb) and then pulled the trigger! smile They sold out within a minute or so.

The "Guitar Hero" I am most looking forward to meeting is James Hetfield. He has had a huge influence on me since the late 80's in shaping my guitar technique/tone. A "Hardwired Experience" ticket is the only ticket to meet him (in fact, all of Metallica) because he does not participate in the regular "meet and greets" that are given away.

The "Hardwired Experience" ticket will provide me (and 11 others... they sell only 12 per concert) an opportunity to have a few minutes one-on-one with each member of Metallica. Of course, photos will be taken/provided to us. We can also bring an item to have autographed. I'll just have them sign the show poster, which is part of the package. Aside from that, each of us is also provided with a signed set list, among other goodies.

I'll post photos to this topic shortly after I receive them, which should be within a couple of days after the concert.

I'm looking forward to this once in a lifetime "Experience", thanks to my wife!

God bless! twothumbs

Sounds great. So does your wife. wink

When I saw John McLaughlin perform his "Mediterranean Concerto" at Oakland university's Meadowbrook amphitheater, he afterwards walked out into the audience seating( to watch the DSO perform Ravel's "Bolero" afterwards) and a crowd of people( me among them) pressed around him for autographs and such. All I did was hake his hand, insisting on, "The LEFT hand, please!"

So, I appreciate what you're feeling. But....

HOW is this news "OT"?

Me neither, but their bassist, Robert Trujillo, has Jaco's bass.

BiC, I know a little about the good work you do, when we don't see you in here, so if anyone deserves to meet one of his Guitar Heroes, you certainly get my vote! Enjoy the experience to the fullest, brother!

Although I'm not into their music (anymore -- I mostly do classical/jazz/world), he's a pretty cool dude. He pops by the office now and then, but I just see him in passing as I'm not in a support role where it's appropriate for me to talk to him.

I did earn a bonus a few years ago for helping visualize a wild circular setup concept he had that no one thought would work. Sometimes the artists know more than the scientists. :-)

Congrats on the ticket. I'm sure you'll have a cool time.
