I use a damp chaser for my piano . There is a solution that you add to the water ,does anyone know what you can use to replace it ? The damp chaser solution costs around 12 bucks when you add the shipping ,Im thinking its more than likely some common household item . thanks

$12 for a product that'll last at least a few years? Seriously? How much do you not care about your piano?

Here's a thread on another forum where someone asked the same question a decade ago, maybe that'll help you save a few bucks.

The damp chaser solution is just to break down sediment in the water so the pads that soak the water up don't get dry and crunchy, shortening their life. So you're choice is, replace the pads more often, or use the solution.

Here it is for $10.95

Alternatively you can install a whole house water softener for about $1000 or so. Or an under sink water filtration system for about $200. But then you need to maintain that as well.

And here you can purchase the active ingredient and figure out the proper dilution yourself.
