I can't believe Kenny has been gone for 20 years this month. To mark the occasion, I put together a wholly kick-ass quartet to play a night of his music at Snug Harbor. It'll be his originals, his arrangements of standards, some tunes he played with other artists (Branford, Sting, maybe more), and a tune I wrote as a tribute to him.

The band is: Brad Walker, baddest young sax player in town and player of the only worthwhile instrumental solo on the 2017 Grammys with Sturgill Simpson's band; Jim Singleton, bassist with Astral Project and tons other artists, and top-call guy for at least 25 years; and Jason Marsalis on drums... 'nuff said. I'll be the guy on piano trying to keep up.

Sunday, Nov 4, sets at 8 and 10. If you're in NOLA, come say hey.

Sound like a great project. I'm a few thousand miles away, but I wish you all the best.

I'm 1100 miles away, Joshua. Wish I had more notice. wink
Please post any recordings if any become available.

Wish I could attend but I’m too far away. I hope they’ll be some audio or video recordings. Best wishes on this great endevour.

I saw Kenny a few times. Once up real close with the Michael Brecker band at Fat Tuesdays in NYC. Kenny was brilliant! A true master of jazz piano.
