What was changed on the Tine Pianos? I always welcome improvement in the Rhodes. I am listening with my Sony MDR-7506 headphones (by the way I noticed on 60 Minutes that McCartney uses these same headphones in his home studio as does Sting in his home studio).
The organ key click is nicer, before the update I seemed to notice it and it seemed it was always too much or too little, in other words it stood out. But now it sounds blended in very natural way, it seems just right at every level. The top octave does seem smoother, is that because of the "old wires" balance update or a separate tweak?

Crumar is the best. No other maker would do this sort of improvements for us.

This forum is the wrong place for me to be if I don't want to be thinking about investing in a Mojo, isn't it? ;-)

I had both the Hammond SK1, an Electro 5, and the Mojo 61 and it was no contest in my mind in terms of sound and action behavior. The Mojo 61 won in Organ, Rhodes, Wurlitzer and Clavinet. However, the Electro 5 did win in the Acoustic Piano sound category, but placed third in organ. Hammond took second place in organ bust last place by a mile in all other sound categories.

Argh add me to the "wrong place to be camp"...I don't do that many gigs and can hardly justify getting one...been gigging with one keyboard with another cheapo one of our singer's as backup. The Nord electro checks more boxes but I do play a lot of organ, classic rock, in my current band.

We just did an audition at a nice spot, jam night, and they had an SK2 sitting there that I got to play. (Imagine that, a keyboard at a jam night!) That felt just fine to me, so if the Mojo is better that is not helping with the G.A.S....my favorite waterfall action that I've tried is the Roland v-combo and it's a very light and easy to play one (vs the stiffer one on the Nord and the Hammond SK...but as I said, it didn't bother me in the slightest.)

The extended library of the Nord==especially the pianos--and the fact that they added envelopes for the synth sounds have me leaning in that direction...if just organ, I'd jump on the Mojo (and still might!)

I was another one who was bothered by the previous sim on fast--my specific complaint was about it having too much "pitch vibrato." On first listen to 1.4 update, I think Guido totally fixed that. Sounds great! I will wait to gig with it before making a final judgment, but I think I am finally able to take the VENT II out of my rig when using MOJO61.

Thank you, Guido!!!!!

Me as well.

Yes, I do consulting for them...but as most of y'all know, that happened because I was knocked out by a Mojo more than any clonewheel I'd ever played...not just the sound, but the feel - couldn't stop playing the damn thing...

I do vaguely recall a forum member buying one in the early days, not getting on with it, and sending it back.

Mind you, he doesn't mention it much these days :-)

I’m hoping this wonderfulness will be included in an update for the dual manual Mojo. Does anyone know if that’s in the works/plan? I’d love to leave the Vent 2 at home but can’t do it yet. The other updates are also very appealing.

like

in addition, I don't know about you, Al, but I can't seem to get my Vent II to play nice with my Mojo half moon, so I am using a Leslie CU-1 half moon ; however I can't get it to fit perfectly on my Mojo unless I drill new holes for it which I am reluctant to do. Would love to just use my Mojo half moon.

My impression is that he keeps parity across instruments for VB3, including Mojo, Mojo 61, Gemini, stand alone, and plug in, but I have no idea where he is for his various platforms. I hope that you guys get what you wish for.

New OS for the Seven now available. Unfortunately I'll have to wait until my replacement arrives next week to try it out. Crumar is claiming improved APs, among other stuff.

have you tried heavy duty velcro rather than drilling holes?

actually, Dave, that is what I am doing. It's good, but not perfectly tight. Not going to fall off, though. Thanks for your post. thu

I've installed the update. IMO the AP is considerably better (also the Elec Grand) and the entire board seems to be.....can't quite put my finger on it....better. Another nice feature added (some might consider it a fix) is that you can now link or un-link the master volume to the individual patches. Previously, the master volume was linked to the individual presets.

Do you need to remove it? I use a re-wired Nord switch which I leave mounted to the lower manual with Scotch Extreme tape.

There was no mention of an AP change, therefore we can assume it has not been changed. Still curious what was done to the Tine Pianos.

In addition to my own ears, here is a copy of the update notice. See line six.

Crumar Seven - Version history

Version 1.10 - October 2018
- Added a global option to unlink the volume parameter from the presets and make it a global volume setting
- Added functions for exporting/importing presets to/from the USB memory
- Added: the MIDI TX Channel selection can now be set on "TX OFF" to completely disable any messages going to the MIDI OUTPUT ports. This can be
useful in case you don't want the Messages generated by the Seven during Local-ON to interfere with other connected MIDI devices; of course,
MIDI transmission is always active when setting the LOCAL function to OFF
- Improved the Acoustic Piano and the Electric Grand Piano models
- Replaced the parameter "Fundamental Level" with "Duplex Scale" in the AP Editing page
- Added pitch bend support for Clavi and DX EP (recognized from MIDI)
- Fixed problem that could make it unstable after changing the global tuning
- Introduced a new WIRED "Online Editor". Just connect your Seven to your computer or to your mobile device using a standard USB CABLE and
visit the website www.gsidsp.com/Seven
This editor is experimental and not 100% identical to the internal Wi-Fi editor, it is based on Google's WEB MIDI API and works only with
Google Chrome, Opera or Firefox (requires add-ons) and does not replace the internal Wi-Fi editor.
- Slight improvements for the Tine and Reed EP models
- Minor optimizations concerning the control panel

I believe Jazz+ was talking about the Mojo61 update... line six.

Here's the list of changes for Firmware v.1.40:
- VB3: Improved the keyclick, the cross-talk, introduced the "complex crosstalk on upper manual"
- VB3: Improved the Rotary Speaker algorithm and added new parameters
- VB3: Extended rotation speed and ramp time ranges, and now displayed in actual Hz and Seconds
- VB3: Modified "OLD" resistor wire set to have a better drawbar balance on the top octave
- VB3: Added new resistor wire set that disables the foldback (Spinet style)
- Slight improvements to the Tine and Reed EP models
- Added option to use the sustain pedal to switch between the slow and fast rotary speeds in momentary mode too
- Added option to have the Pedal-to-Lower function in Split mode between the pedalboard and the lower manual
- Updated the PDF manual with new informations and explanation of all organ parameters (please read it)
- Fixed problem that could cause a system restart while using the USB Offline Editor

Sorry, my mistake. It followed my post of the update for the SEVEN so I assumed that was what he was referencing.

My mistake I now just noticed he was talkin about the Seven which also had an update, and it tweaked the 7 AP.

No harm, no foul. FWIW, I think the update to the SEVEN moved the AP from 'usable' to 'pretty darn good'.

I have two Mojo 61s so it was nice to be able to upgrade one and A/B between 1.3x and 1.40. The Leslie sim is greatly improved. Previously the Leslie sim it had a weird upper-mid warble on tremolo that really bothered me, and I was never able to dial it back much. As it is, I have the horn speed on the slowest setting and I'd be happy if I could make it go slower. With the new firmware, you can still hear traces of the weird warble but it's greatly reduced. The new "doppler" setting helps a lot in that regard. There's also a new "tube feedback" parameter that adds some growl and heft when you're deep into the expression pedal. You can go full Jon Lord if you want to.

I played a gig yesterday with my updated Mojo 61 and I was very impressed with the Leslie sim changes. I'm happy to say that I'll no longer need to bring my Vent II to gigs.
