Aw, man...

I believe that I saw him with Koko Taylor many years ago. Solid dog, really delivered.

Oh man, now that is a point guard lost-and from my home town too.
RIP Mr. Rush

Yes, one of the most distinctive stylists of bluesology.
It started w/ this tune.
Just dig how he delivers the 1st line...not to mention the unlikely sweater/tie ensemble cool
The solo he starts @ 2:43 seems to've been a direct influence on the "here's-my-note-&-I'm-sticking-to-it" style John Lennon adopted.
More typical is the 2nd & even more then that the fills he injects during the final verse.

Here's a double hit down & dirty.
Guess who that 1st track influenced ?

One more for the, uh, road ?

Damn! One of the best blues guys ever.

I only saw him once, at a club in NYC. They were recording live that night, and because of some snafu didn't start playing for a long time after arriving. Worth the wait, though.

He had beautiful, deft phrasing, feel, attitude, and touch.

My guess, something intended for another thread OR an accidental double post.

Listening to him on the radio a few days ago, it struck me that he had a much more "modern" tone than a lot of his contemporaries. He sounded meatier, thicker, perhaps a tad more distorted than, say Albert King. He really sounded good to me.
It took me a while to warm up to the older blues guys. I wish I'd heard more of Otis' stuff sooner.

Always remember that you’re unique. Just like everyone else.

Indeed. And yet also, perhaps due to his articulate playing "touch" and phrasing, clearer and cleaner at the same time, smoother, somewhat like B.B. King meets more noodling-capable players.

Well, he was only 20 years old in 1955; younger than many we might think were his contemporaries....younger than Freddie King or Albert Collins or even John Mayall!
