Here are Seymour Duncan's demos for typical Tele neck choices, if you maintain a Tele neck profile pickup size, and want a more jazz sound than rock . The demos are unfortunately not jazz, though it gives a tone profile without any roll off:

The brighter, imo: Alnico II Pro Tele neck

The more midrange, smoother highs, imo Vintage Stack Tele neck (hum cancels, a mini humbucker stack):

For the neck of my jazz Tele I'm going with the "Fender '62 Custom" lead pickup. It too has a pronounced mid range with smoother highs. Good for blues too.

To maintain the standard pickup size but get great Jazz tones.

Joe Bardens sound great but they aren't cheap. They sound great. But damn, price is too damn high.
